Stephen A Smith remains a polarizing figure in the sports world. Recently, NBA star Isaiah Thomas of the Phoenix Suns took offense toward a Stephen A Smith list addressing the best NBA playoff runs by small guards. The list did not feature certain players, and Thomas was one of them.

Not only that, he even took to his social media account on X (formerly Twitter) to make his intentions clear towards Stephen A Smith. In addition, NBA legend Magic Johnson took to X (formerly Twitter) to support a former legend, Isiah Thomas of the Detroit Pistons.

Stephen A. you forgot Isiah Thomas scored 25 points in one quarter on an injured leg against my Showtime Lakers during the 1988 NBA Finals! How could you leave him off your All-Time Playoff small guard list? Magic Johnson via X

Smith’s list featured a recency bias as four out of five performances come in the last ten years. These include names such as Jalen Brunson, Kyrie Irving, Damian Lillard, and Stephen Curry. Meanwhile, Allen Iverson rounds out the top 5 with his playoff performances in 2001.

Former Boston Celtics star Isaiah Thomas took offense and wanted Smith to recognize his 2017 playoff run with the Celtics. Moreover, Magic Johnson wanted Smith to acknowledge Pistons’ Isiah Thomas, who led the ‘Bad Boys’ to two NBA championships.

So far, Smith has not responded to Thomas or Johnson. Nevertheless, he might address their tweets on his show on YouTube. Smith has a habit of addressing various comments and criticisms on his YouTube show.

Isiah Thomas and Stephen A Smith have a fiery past

NBA legend Isiah Thomas and analyst Stephen A Smith do not have a fruitful relationship as many people think. The Detroit Pistons legend will not hesitate to fire back at anyone. Recently, Smith posted on X (formerly Twitter) that Thomas had a beef with NBA great Michael Jordan. As such, Smith had invited Thomas on his show regarding their beef.

However, Thomas turned down Smith’s invitation and took to X to put forward his views, claiming he does not live a life that focuses on the controversy surrounding him. Thomas-Jordan beef is something that stems all the way back to the Olympic Dream Team of 1992. As such, the two-time NBA champion refuses to let the media claim he lived his life focused on the beef with Jordan.

In addition, Thomas remains focused on his aims and path despite the media’s attempts to inflame emotions and draw him into confrontations. His refusal to be drawn into unnecessary controversy demonstrates maturity and confidence, earning him respect from supporters and bystanders.
