PGA Championship odds: Scottie Scheffler enters Round 3 with 2nd-shortest odds

Scottie Scheffler's day began with an unlikely arrest at the hands of Louisville police and a delayed start heading into the second round of the PGA Championship. Scheffler's day ended with the world No. 1 golfer shooting 5-under 66, one shot better than his opening round.

Scheffler is three shots off the lead and tied for fourth on the leaderboard at 9-under par despite what he called a "chaotic day" after playing one of the wildest rounds in recent memory.

“I feel like my head is still spinning,” Scheffler told reporters Friday afternoon when he finished his second round. “I can't really explain what happened this morning."

Despite all the chaos, Scheffler remains a popular bet to win the PGA Championship. Scheffler started the morning at +400 to win the tournament outright and moved to +320 as of Friday evening, trailing Xander Schauffele, who leads the tournament at 12-under par.

BetMGM PR Manager John Ewing said Friday morning that the sportsbook took "2x the number of bets to win the tournament on Scheffler than any other player since his arrest." Ewing added that Scheffler is the biggest liability to win the PGA Championship at BetMGM. At FanDuel, Scheffler went from 9% of the outright bets to win the PGA Championship as of Thursday to 16% of the outright bets by Friday.
